bongoboard.jpegThe Bongo board looks just like a skateboard, only with one single independent roller attached with an elastic cord instead of wheels. The roller is in constant motion independent of the board, creating a constantly changing center of balance. This makes it suitable for expert level balance training.
The inventor of the original Bongo Board was WWII pilot Stanley Washburn Jr. Curiosity was the first instinct that motivated Washburn to shuffle over to some African Gold Coast children. They were skillfully balancing themselves on a wooden plank and a log. That was Stanley’s first vision of his future Bongo Board.
as the board’s popularity began to grow, so did the diversity of its users. In the late sixties, skiers, surfers and other athletes started to take notice and began using the Bongo Board for off-season balance training. The Bongo Board teaches its user the proper distribution of body weight to achieve a consistent equilibrium. This is a very useful skill that applies to a wide variety of sports.
