The Bodyblade: a useful rehabilitation tool in Physiotherapy

The bodyblade is widely used within physiotherapy and rehabilitation settings around the world. Actually it was invented by a physiotherapist called Bruce Hymanson. The bodyblade’s usefulness in physiotherapy is particularly evident when it comes to scapular instabilities and muscle imbalances. The reason the bodyblade is so useful for scapular rehabilitation is that it makes it easy and fun to produce very small and accurate and rythmic muscle contractions, shifting rapidly between eccentric and concentric contractions. This action of the bodyblade stimulates neural adaptations in a very effective way. The rythmic aspect of it also causes the muscles to loose tension and relax during the movement, if the muscles are too tense the user will not be able to produce the oscillations that are necessary to keep the bodyblade going.  In order to succeed at this he is forced to lose this tension. For the above mentioned reasons ,the bodyblade is a highly recommended tool in physiotherapy and particularly for the purpose of  rotator cuff and scapular rehabilitation.
